Preventative maintenence inspection on new Waterfurnace 5 Series geothermal unit. Cleaned air filter. Rewired humidifier and programmed thermostat for humidifier control. Thermostat calibrated for proper humidity reading, temperature is resding correctly. Test ran operation of electric strip heat and geothermal heating. All systems operating properly and within spec.
Upon arrival inspected unit and found problem current. Test unit and blower motor completely non functional. Fan operation will not cycle nor heating. Quote homeowner universal evergreen motor, quote was approved picked up part and performed repair. Test ran system. Everything is functioning as should currently. No concerns at this time.
Furnace drain barbed fitting threaded end was leaking. Disassembled, used thread tape, reassembled. Cycled furnace. No water leaks at this time.
Control board faulty stopping blower operation randomly.
Upon arrival, inspected furnace and found unit in a lockout on overheat. Discussed with homeowner and homeowner in informed me that he has had this problem for a long time with the previous company. They have made many adjustments and have not been able to resolve problem. Upon first inspection found gas pressure at 3.72 lowered down to 3.25. Found air speeds on factory blue setting raised air speed from 1050 CFM to 1200. Delta T went from 64° to 57. While adjusting blower speeds noticed a weird relay fluke where blower motor would not come back on for approximately two minutes. Discussed with homeowner that there may still be issues with the control board, but the furnace has been dialed in and should no longer have overheat problems unless there is a blower motor relay problem underlying. Unit is fully operational at this time.
Unit had a dirty flame sensor. Clean sensor and verify proper operation. Intake pipe needs a condensation trap to prevent future issues. Pipe is allowing in lots of moisture
11/5/25 7:00pm Emergency service – upon arrival inspected furnace and found leaking by gas valve. Homeowner was interested in instant replacement. Remove and replace valve with available parts on van adjusted price accordingly for a warranty valve under after hours labor. Homeowner informed me of a technician previously adjusting airflow on the furnace downstairs, giving him more problems than solution. He wanted me to convert it back. I believe I have converted it back to the original settings. It was on. I changed orange to gray. If things aren’t better next season, we will further address. Back in 2023 homeowner previously requested Brandon to quote ERV addition for attic, his original request was denied due to unavailability new request is being sent in to office and we will update with information when we have it. Testing operation of the unit showed that the water valve for first stage operation will not open and is causing the unit to trip on fp1 code. Wired in second stage valve to first stage to get a temporary fix to allow for unit operation. Test ran in first and second stage heating.
